The Nursery offers equal opportunities to all children and families, and we aim to reflect the multicultural nature of our society.
Every child is valued equally, and all are encouraged to care for others, whatever their colour, race, culture or need.
When children insult or hurt each other, we spend time helping them to understand each other’s points of view, and to see that insults can hurt too.
Young children pick up attitudes very quickly, and we need to ensure that these attitudes are positive, caring and non-racist.
Any form of physical or verbal abuse towards anyone in the Nursery will not be tolerated and will be reported to the local Authority.
Pupil premium is the funding allocated to schools for the specific purpose of boosting the attainment of pupils from low income families. We use our pupil premium to provide every child with a dinner once a week, this supports our children’s personal and social education and develops communication and language skills. Children have the experience of sitting with a group of friends in a family situation with an adult modelling and encouraging conversation and appropriate behaviour.
Extra staff are employed to support language by working with targeted children in small groups. They also support these children by working alongside during normal nursery provision.
The Nursery follows the Local Authority Child Protection Procedures. This means that any actual, suspected or alleged child abuse will be reported to the Social Care Department, and may be followed up by them.
Special Education Needs
Children with special educational needs have exactly the same needs as other children but with extra needs individual to each of them. Each child has full access to the Nursery curriculum which offers a wide range of experiences and equipment within a secure and caring environment. Additional support appropriate to individual needs is offered to help each child realise his/her full potential in all areas of development.
Baby Kids is an Enhanced Resourced nursery to support children with special educational needs with additional staffing and resources.
We have regular visits from Speech Therapist, School Doctor and Educational Psychologist.
